my Despatch No. 66 of the 15th. of March last, I have the

honour to transmit copy of a statement showing the Staff

required for the supervision of Assisted migration.

The Staff other than the Officer

in Class III have been appointed and their salaries for

the current year have been voted by the Legislative Council

as reported in my Despatch No. 135 of the 15th. instant.

There is at present no Officer available for the appoint-

-ment in Class III and in the meantime I have authorised

the payment of allowances at the rate of $50 a month each

to Mr. R. 0. Hutchison, Acting Assistant Registrar-General,

and to Mr. D. W. Tratman, Acting Assistant Land Officer

for the New Territories, who share between them the work

in connection with this emigration which is arduous and
